Thumbs up
Enermax 350 Watt power supply question

So I tossed my (almost brand new) 300 watt Deer power supply in the dumpster and bought a Eneramx Whisper EG365P-VE power supply.

link to the product:

http://www.enermax.com.tw/products/eg-365p-vefc.htm

All I can say is WOW

My Cpu temp dropped 5oCelius and all is good.

What I would like to know is that there is a wire coming from the p/s with a termistor on the end of it. Enermax's manual is bleak at best and was wondering where I should "stick" the termistor?

I believe its a heat sensor for controlling the speeds of the fans? if so is there software i need also to control it or does it do it on its own somehow?

Thanks.

i think that's the rpm sensor lead that goes to ine of the fan headers. does it actually have a thermister at the end?

yeah.. it has a 3 line power connector for the 9" fan I believe and a line with a termistor at the end of it...

(its the line on the very right of the picture)

if it's actually a thermal sensor, then stick it by the system temp sensor on the mobo (if it's long enough) so you have the same reading as the system temp.

edit: or you can look for the warmest spot on the mobo and stick it there.

I guess I would only be able to glue it to the side of the heatsink because the sensor is underneath the heatsink..

I have a Abit KR7A raid with a AMD 1900+ cpu....

would that work ok?

what's the temp:rpm rating on the fan? do you wanna run it full speed all the time. then place it on the heat hink.

Ok, the wires are very long so no problem... so where would the temp sensor on the motherboard for me be then?

(thanks)...

now we need to find out at what temp will the fan rise or do you just want to keep the fan running at full speed. BTW, the on board system temp sensor should state it on the manual.
