XP authenticity question - Upgrading
Can any Microsoft Wiz tell me if changing the CPU to a faster one will tip the authentication procedure over the edge with the following desktop machine? It is not dockable, has no CPU serial number, and no SCSI installed.
Volume Serial Number
If I come up against problems how much grief am I likely to get getting a new number from MS? Bearing in mind that the copy of XP HOME is an OEM one. I've heard they have some discretion on this, I am only trying to upgrade a slightly ageing machine after all.
Thanks for any input ... Barry
PS the details of the machine were obtained from the XPinfo programme, it's very handy! No sleep 'til bedtime...
