Did it revert back to the default video card?

Yes like Big Daddy stated, the unit is not seeing your
video drivers. Right click on your desktop & select
properties & pick the settings tab. Then pick your card under
display. If it’s not available there click advanced & look
under the adapter tab.

I think the windows had some shutdown protection and he selected "configure to the last known good configuration" and it rolled back before his driver was installed?
Or it just switched to default driver

What kind of video card does he have? ATI? Nvidia? Intel Integrated?
If its ATI go to ati.com
If its Nvidia go to nvidia.com and download the drivers there.
If its intel then he has to give me his motherboard model number.
