Desktop PSU to Notebook PSU Convert !!!

Hi All,

related to my history ( http://www.techimo.com/forum/t136156.html ) I found a brillant solution. I would like to get out the power supply out of the case. I will put a DC to CD conterter inside :

http://www.mini-box.com/s.nl/sc.8/ca...it.A/id.300/.f

and after I will connect to a portable AC to DC..

is that possible my friends ?

hmm...what exactly is the problem? is it that you need more power for your harddrive or something? I don't get what's going wrong..what ended up happening with your harddrive on the other one. Sorry but I just don't understand what you're asking either....(this isn't really my area of expertice but i'm willing to help as much as I can

Yep, they seem to be on the same page. Good to see you save yourself from the evils of overpriced factory replacement parts.

Make sure the wattage on your ac-dc converter is as high or higher than specs for your incase unit. That unit looks to be made for automotive use. A car electrical system has many more amps(watts, plus other things) available. A laptop drive is powered with data cable, is this a small laptop drive?

Hey,

this is not an automative power supply, they says that this is a mini-tx form factor power supply for via new mainboard. This is designed for a very small pc form factor to be complete silence...

So my wuestion is simple is that possible to find a P4 and 20 pin output DC-DC power supply so that I can take out the AC-DC out of my case..And this will resolve my problem...

I am very curious about why all the power supplies need such a lot air cooling if the technology is cabaple to produce such 300W DC-DC so that all desktops could be transformed to a simple laptop style power supply..

The ac-dc converter is on the same page. I think you're getting confused a bit as to what a normal power supply does. The thing you're looking at in that link is basicaly half a normal atx psu so you just need the ac-dc part that plugs into it and will live outside your machine, as I said it's sold on the same page as the link.
