Hello all, I've got a bit of a problem. I leave my computer on 24/7, and today when I came home, it was off. I figured that maybe the UPS software screwed up and hibernated the comp. So, I figured it was no big deal. I go to turn it on...all of the fans come on and you hear the hard drives spin up, but the comp doesn't POST. There are no beeps from the BIOS nor any display on the screen. I've tried clearing the CMOS, changing out the memory, moving the memory to another slot, and even changing out the vid card. I still get nothing out of it.
Info: Athlon XP 2600+ T'bred - o/c'ed
Gigabyte GA-7NNXP
Radeon 9800
Geil 512mb PC3200 (x2)
Enermax 470watt PSU (just bought about 5-6 months ago)
Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks. |

how dusty is the inside of your comp?
just thinking it may be a heat issue. especially if you've been OC'ing, Athlons arn't quite as safe as Pentiums when it comes too heat issues..

It's not very dusty. I clean it regulary every 2-3 months, and I keep the voltage at the stock level. It normally runs between 50-52. Also, I'm pretty sure that I have the option for it to shut down if it gets over 60 or 70. |

While you are checking for dust check your capacitors especially the ones around your processor to see if they are leaking and or bulging. |

I forgot to mention that I checked those, too. That was one of the top things that I thought it could be...I had that problem with my Epox 8RDA+ about 7-8 months ago. |

I had that happen to me, turned out it was my video card...exact same thing. My comp always stays on, came home one day and it was off, wouldn't boot, and I so happened to have a spare video card at the time, and that's what it turned out to be. |

Well, as I said earlier, I tried changing out the video card. It still doesn't work. Now, just to make sure, I tried it out on another comp. It boots up with it just fine.
EDIT: I just replaced the mobo back in June or July. I couldn't wait for my Epox to get back from RMA. I'm guessing that it has to be the CPU then...it'll be two years old in May. At least it still has a warranty on it.

Well, I dunno if it's the CPU or the motherboard. The light still comes on for the Logitech bluetooth hub/mouse charger when it's plugged into the USB port. The only thing making me think that it could still be the motherboard is the fact that it doesn't beep. Any thoughts on this? |

if the proc was dead it wouldn't beep either (i don't think). it depends...for the bios to start up it has to be loaded into memory (with a little help from cpu i think) so if either are missing or dead...i don't think they beep. have you tried taking out all nonessentials and booting that way? also take the heat sink off and look at the proc. burn marks, anything like that? |
