| A blue screen crash problem.
I recently bought battlefield 1942 and upon playing it for about 15 mins my computer had a blue screen crash which had never previously happened and it does it every time I try and play the game. That this should happen for quite an old game is quite a mystery to me especially as my computer should be able to run it very comfortably. I had some problems with some games before, Battlefield Vietnam (coincidence perhaps) didnt work very well it had lots of in game graphical problems and my comp seemed in general overburdened by the game.
I suspect that it is something to do with my graphics card configuration but I'm no expert at graphics card configuration. I doubt it is anything to do with the drivers as they are less than a year old (as is my my comp), I attempted to download some program from the ATI website but it didnt run right. Anway,
my system specs are.
AMD 2800+
512mb ddr ram
ATI radeon 128mb 9200se
motherboard, nvidia nforce 2 ultra 400 EP-8rda3 series.
Thanks for any help. |

What module is the BSOD happening in? It should be listed in the details near the bottom of the screen. |

Do you mean the reason it gives for the BSOD (I assume BSOD is the same as a Blue screen crash?) on the blue screen when it actually comes up? |

Well i'll have to go and crash my comp again then. I hope it doesnt do any damage to it, all these BSODs.
By the way I should have said that i tried tinkering with the graphics configuration to boost the performance but i think this actually made the game run even worse although i didnt wait for the BSOD to occur. |

The information that the BSOD displays is as follows:
STOP: 0x000000C5 (0X00000004, 0X0000000, 0X00000001, 0X8054B534) |

Sounds like it's overheating or the power supply can't handle the demand.
Get into the BIOS and monitor the CPU temps for a while (under something like "PC Health" or "PC Monitoring"). Let us know what temps are reported. If you can, get a copy of SiSoft Sandra and run the "BurnIn Test" and use Everest to monitor the temps. Let us know those temps as well.
Also, could you let us know what brand/wattage the power supply is and basically all the components on your system (RAM, CPU, video card, harddrives, etc.). |

I downloaded that sandra thing you were on about and got this info from the mainboard information tool. It seems to give all or most of the info yous might need. I went to run the burn-in test thing but it said that it could possibly permamnently damage components if you didnt know what you were doing (which I dont) so i left it, what do you people think.
I think my problem is most likely to be a graphics card driver. I noticed that when I run task manager when i played either battlefield 1942 or battlefield Vietnam that the my processor was 100% in use continuosly and free RAM was about 20 or even below that. Both games claim to only need 256mb of Ram.
