Dell XPS T450 not booting

My friend's Dell was working the other day but now it refuses to turn on when I push the power button. The LED on the motherboard is on. I tried different wall sockets but to no avail. I opened it up and took out some of the components like the slot Pentium to clean out dust. Nothing seems to be disconnected.

Work your magic guys!

Does the fan on the power supply spin up when you hit the power button?

I'm pretty sure I grounded correctly when I was dusting. I had my my foot on the frame on the desk (metal). I couldn't really check the power button wire to see if it was connected to the mobo because the HD cage was blocking and I couldn't figure out how to budge it short of smashing the annoying thing.

Thumbs up

if your CPU fan is doesnt spin when u turn on the power hmm my guess is that its your power supply. Can you test the power supply on different computer or maybe just swap it for another one ?

other option

I would take out everything of the motherboard just leave there your CPU, Memory, Power supply,

If that wount work I would check the mother board for burned out capacitors or burn marks ..

Watch out, that dell ps may not be standard.

EDIT: wanted to get that there before you go change power supplys. The dell may have the same connector but have wires in different places with the potential of killing the mobo/power supply.

I think the power supply should be easy to swap hmm there is very handy tool 'power supply tester'

you dont have to even pull it out all the way just disconect the one installed and just connect the new power supply to you motherboard and watch if any of the fans starts to spin ...

It looks standard. Whats an obvious characteristic of a PSU dying.
