I need help with my mic. it was working perfectly today and then i leened back in my chair and it stopped working. the wire was tight so maybe i damaged something but i really dont see that as an option, if it is, part makers better start makin more durable hardware. anyways, i have fiddled around with the options in my comp to see if i could get it to work again but no, nothing has worked thus far, ive restarted multiple times, tried replugging it. the mic goes into the pink slot like every mic should.
Since its a heasdset i can put both the mic and headphones into a usb adapter which then goes into a usb port, ive doen this also and guess wat, no success. i have tried everything i can think of and i have no idea what to do now. my specs are intel p4 3.0ghz, 1 gig of kingston hyper-x ram, a sound blaster live! 24-bit and im not sure on how to find out the name of my mobo (tell me how) and i run xp home. so can someone please help me wih this issue.

What's the headset you're using? If it was working until you leaned back and pulled on it, I'm guessing either a wire came loose inside the connector, or there's a break somewhere in the cable.
Considering most headsets are increadibly cheap, they're not indestructible and will break if you abuse them! Now if it was a $300 headset, I'd say it should be able to put up with a little abuse. |

and i have just confirmed that it is indeed the microphone that is causing the problem, i tested it out on my lappy and it didn't work, aha, surprised? i guess not. well does anyone know how to get it to work again? my guess is that a wire came loose inside the headset. |

I found that mic for $40! Looks like a decent mic and sennheiser is a good brand. Well, you could try to take it apart and see if there's a connection loose and re-solder it. Or there could be a break somewhere in the cable. And if it's in the connector, your best bet would be to cut off the connector they have and buy a replacement and solder that on. But I wouldn't suggest that unless you know what you're doing. If it's under warrenty it would be easier to get them to fix it!
So does the headset work? (the headphone part) And is there no noise at all from the mic or does it crackle or break in and out? |

I agree with the Blues man, it sounds more than likely that you pulled a wire loose from the connector. I've done that with a set of headphones. It was just simple fix to open up the connector and re-solder it. |

Unless it's still under warrenty, then I'd still suggest getting a new one It's always good to get new stuff |

Well it doesn't matter cause my friend brought ver hs mic and it works but the only thing is that people can hardly hear us. We've turned up all the sound settings to max and it's still the same problem . Anyways the sennheiser isnt under warranty i think and it isnt the pc-130, i can't find the one i use but it was worth 100$ (it's a pc-something).
Anyways with the new mic people can hardly hear anything that I say. Well if anyone knows anyways to make it much louder then tell me. I've already gone through most of the setting and nothing has helped so far. Iy is a CA mic but i have no idea wat model it is, i got it like 7 years ago. Well new help. |
