Hi there,
I recently bought a Linksys 10/100 Ethernet PCI network card but when it's inserted into one of the free PCI slots on my motherboard, the computer won't switch on at all. But when I remove it, it switches on with no problems whatsoever.
Does anyone know what the problem may be and how to resolve it?
Thanks! |

How old is the computer? Sounds like an IRQ conflict of the sort |

You might try switching it to a different PCI slot. This sometimes resolves IRQ problems.

Any ideas? |

No really its looks like the card is shot. | The card is brand new, straight out of the box though? It can't surely be shot already, surely? |

How old is the Motherboard maybe there different PCI revisions like a PCI 2.2 card but the board is only PCI 2.1. Happened to me with a wireless card, except the computer booted it just could never detect the card. |

The network card is PCI 2.2, so that can't be the problem, can it?
It's getting frustrating now.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
Any other ideas? |
