Hi all,
I have this Abit KV7 board with a XP2100+ with a stick of PC2100 512mg and a ATi All-in-Wonder 9600. I'm just building this system and I can't get it to boot up. I know all these parts are good, they've been tested, and when I bought this board I tested it and it would POST. What I'm getting is one long beep then a pause and then it repeats with another long beep. I pulled the memory out of this machine I'm typing on and I've tried another processor, still nothing. I even tried another video card. I have tried to find the beep codes on-line with no luck. Does anyone have a clue what's going on or does someone know the beep codes for an Abit board? Thanks for any and all help. |

Thanks JP.
Hmmm, it shows it as a memory error but I know this stick is good and I know it was seated right. I'll try another stick in it. |

2) I bought the board some time back form a forum member, I've never overclocked it.
3) I did that already.
The link you provided said it was a memory error. I only have 2 sticks of DDR Ram, PC2100 512mb & PC2700 512mb. I pulled the PC2100 to set the Abit board up so when it showed memory error I shut down and swapped memory. I am now running the PC2100 in this machine and the PC2700 in the Abit board. It booted fine and the errored stick is back in this machine and it's running fine . |

well, it was a "Repeating (endless loop)".
other sites say the same thing...."Memory Error - Memory is either damaged or badly seated".
Well anyway it's working now. I guess Abit boards are more sensitive to RAM. |

lol
usually abit boards are more stable..that is why they sometimes have 4 slots...that 4th slot is harder for manufacturers to work with so often they just do 3 |

I put the board back in the case and I'm formatting the drive as I type this so I guess it'll be fine. Thanks much for the help and the link JP. |
