    is monitor dead

     
    i have a crt monitor with one of those blue plugs that goes into the computer with the three rowes of pins. occasionlly it wil flicure, but how do you tell if it is dead.

    Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Could you provide a better discription of your trouble? Is it working and occasionally flickering or not working but occasionally flickering?

    its a '97 gateway ev700. i ruled out anyother thing by testing the pc with another monitor and that worked. but when i turn onthe pc with that monitor, the lite turned green from the amber, could something of came looke in it?

    i have one of them sitting in my basement and it works so i dont know you really cant do anything to them i would jst dump it and get a new one for $100

    Yeah, I agree with Joe. It's an old monitor, not worth the trouble.

    What do you mean by flicker, does it go blank and then back again, or is it just minor flickering? Does the correct monitor register in the device manager, or is it default monitor? Have you checked the monitor's frequency settings, is it like 75hz?
