Can't turn off!

When i try to turn off my computer it does nothing. I go to the start menu then click Turn off comp. and it does nothing. I can put it to sleep but not turn off. How can i fix this? Oh, and I am using Windows XP PRo.

What do I look for in the event logs and where do I find them?

Can you shut down when you hit "Shut Down" from the CTRL-ALT-DEL menu?

It doesn't turn off that way either. This might be a problem but for the last few times I have tried to update my virus definitions, it says there are no no updates.

Right click My Computer -> Manage -> Event Viewer

I found one error and this is it
