Question
increasing the # of options in MS -word symbol menu

I have tried searching on google and going throught the MSword help, but evertying keeps pointing me to equation editor. I am trying to insert a specific mathematical symbol into a document of mine and it's not in my list of available symbols (in the insert>symbol menu). However, the guy at the desk next to me has the one I want as well as a bunch of others. I'd like to know how I can increase the number of symbols that are available to me.

can anyone please help me out here?

thanks
-Z

Different symbols are availbale depending on the font you have selected. Maybe try changing the font.

What symbol are you looking for?

I know that there symbols shown are font dependent, but I'm sure that there is also a way to import more symbols.... anyone?

±

this one? character code is 00B1. Normal text. Alt +0177 is the default shortcut key for me. Better yet, if that symbol is it. Just highlight it in my post and copy it.

Insert --> Symbol
+/- is one of the defaults along the bottom.
You might want to goto start --> control panel --> add/remove programs and "change" your MS office install. Make sure you install all the addins and stuff
