either the floppy cable came loose....
or maybe the floppy controller on the board died.
or the floppy could have died
----
you can troubleshoot it by checking the connections and maybe swapping out the floppy etc
if the controller is bad you may be able to boot into the bios and turn off the floppy controller so the message goes away...but then of course you wont have a floppy...but you can always get a usb floppy

I don't understand, my floppy disk is working fine. Why would I get that error message? |

weird huh...maybe it is going bad
go into the bios and see if the setting "floppy seek" or "boot floppy seek" is on...if it is on turn it off |

Try checking the boot order in the Bios. it may be trying to boot from floppy. Is there a floppy in the drive?

I believe this is a POST test that is failing. Sounds like a dead floppy controller. You may need to disable the floppy drive in the BIOS. |

Sound like a floppy drive controller failure. What you can do is put the floppy drive on "B" connector of the data cable and swap floppy drives in bios. There you'll be back with "A" floppy drive. Don't forget to define the "B" drive and turn off "A" drive in bios.

Everything worked before they crapped JP.
The code 40 mean controller failure whether they're floppy or mainboard controller. I could be wrong but in my experiences they crapped without warning and I've had plenty of them. In most cases it's the floppies that crapped.
