I receive that kind of message before. How I solve it, as far as i could remember, I switch it into just one account and that is admin.
So far my XP is okay, on my laptop. I used to have tons of problems on my PC before. XP is the only choice I have to get my work done anyways.

Solution: Don't create a TXT file and give it a .EXE extension.
Onto a legitimate XP complaint - if you have a file selected, hit DEL and ENTER before the 'Delete File' dialog box appears, it attempts to RUN the file. |

When I logged on using safe mode, I didn't install networking services so had to log on using the local Administrator account
| Thats why you could delete it. You needed to use a different admin account to delete the file since it was created in the Desktop of the domain admin.
Just curious. Try the same thing but create a folder on the root drive, like "c:\test", save the file there, and see if you can delete from the file. |

I have the same set-up here at work, with the same Windows 2000 Server running AD DHCP/DNS with no settings different.
But, I don't have the problem with deleting the file here at work.
Setups are identical too.
