| Compaq monitor issues
Okay - I need serious help here - I'm moving hardrives/ moitors due to new employees coming and all is well, except when I try and turn on my moitors, I get a green light flashing for a second and then the light changes to a muted yellow, steady light, no monitor read at all - just blank screen. When the monitor connection os broken from the hardrive, a "check signal" sign comes up - so the montors seem to be working, but not reading when the connection is made to the harddrive.
No prongs are bent and the video is onboard - these are old machines ( appx. 8 years)
All monitors worked up until today - I'm beginning to feel like I have the touch of death.
Any ideas - PLEASE?? Thanks |

Well one trouble with old machines... They can work forever if they are stationary and not fooled with....
However the minute you move them or swap anything you run the risk of having any number of issues..
The computer is not a harddrive... do you mean your moving towers, and monitors and now your having issues?
what exactly did you do...
what kind of machines are these? |

They're compaq deskpro's - running windows 98 - moving monitors on two, tower and monitor on one -
Moved first tower/monitor and when monitor was turned on - i received thegreen flash/then yelloe light isssue - no picture at all. After trying to swap monitors ( thinking 1st one may have quit on me) - the other two montirs are not not working - same issu
I've tried rotating the three montirs on one tower to see if it was sensisitive to any one monitors sssettings, but to no avail. None of these three monitors, two of which were working this morning, the other unknown, are working now
Any ideas?? |

Hrmm I assume that when you turn your monitor on the Tower is already running,
LoL your problem would make perfect sense if the Towers didnt have power. But nah No ones that silly,
I've had a issue like that due to the Com Port out to the Monitor cable has just needed wiggling. |

Hmmm...older computers???
Odds are these guys are dusty inside. I've had similar problem and solved it by getting the dust out of the case and pulling and re-seating all the cards. (of course with my luck, these baby's have on board video ) |
