    cd writer wont read cdr's

I have some cdr's and Ive noticed that my cd rom will usually read them, but the cdr will not. These cdr's are mostly data that Ive burnt myself. Ive read something about having to "close the session" before the cdr will read it...?? or could it just be cdr is going bad? thanks

Closing the session is an option you select prior to burning the disk. This prevents additional data from being added to the disk at a later time. This will also increase the chance that an older cd-rom drive will be able to read the cd. Your cd burner should definitly be able to read the disk closed or not. If it can't read an open session disk then it would not be able to add more data later. Unless maybe you have a very old cd burner that is not capable of this. By very old I mean maybe a 2x or 4x burner.
