computer wont boot

Hi, I'm a new member to this site. I came across it while searching for a solution to my problem.

I bought a new motherboard, cpu and a video card recently. When I tried to start it, I couldnt get anything on the monitor. I can see the cpu starting, fan etc, but nothing comes on the monitor screen. The LED light on the monitor (on the power switch) stays orange as opposed to yellow (?) when its working properly. I've included the detailed specs for the motherboard, cpu, etc for your review. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me out here.

Thanks in advance.

The following are the specs:
Mobo: Fujitsu Siemens D1675 P4 socket 478 ATX. The detailed description can be found on:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ADME:B:EF:US:1

CPU: Mobile Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz 512KB Cache 533Mhz NORTHWOOD 3.2GHz/512/533 Socket 478 - OEM - SL77R

Video Card: Amigo Radeon 9250 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card

All the other components (hard drives, cdr/cdrw drives, dvd-r/w drives, memory) were taken from my old computer which was a amd athlon xp 1800 with a mobo with an integrated video card and no agp slot.

Welcome to TechIMO!!

First thing I would suggest is to reseat the video card even if you think it is seated properly.

Just last night I had the same problem diagnosing a problem with another card and the substitute card I put in needed to be put in twice before it finally was in all the way.

u should un plug everything when u fiddle with things just for reference.

do you get any beeps? if so what kind

do u have an extra memory stick that you can replace your other one with (just to see if its your memory that is causing this problem)

i had a similar problem, and it was caused by bad memory. basically my mem stick was fried (i dont know how it got fried) but when i took a different memory stick and replaced it everything worked.

so maybe thats your problem

There are no beeps after I start the computer. When I reconnect my old motherboard and cpu, it works fine, so I'm guessing that the RAM is not the problem here.

I also tried removing the video card and inserting it again, in fact I dismantled and assembled the whole thing again (which was inevitable since I connected my old motherboard, cpu etc back) , but with no luck. Could it be a fried motherboard?

On a different topic, a strange thing happened yesterday. My mouse suddenly stopped working. When I pulled up the "mouse" from the control panel, it didnt show any mouse installed...

p.s. i did unplug everything during assembly/dismantle

Could be fried motherboard. Don't really know.
Welcome to Techimo, by the way.
My advice, get a new motherboard, from a different vendor. E.G.- Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Abit.

Disconnect everything except your HDD & video card, reset your bios using the jumper with the computer unplugged from the wall. Wait 30 seconds or so, and try it again.

Also, most boards now have a square 4 prong power plug coming off the power supply. Make sure it is plugged in and make sure any fan plugs on the video card are attached.

I think I see it. There is a row of blue capacitors, and then 4 black ones opposite the USB port. Do you have power to this port? (If it the right one).

4 prong power supply.. connected, plugged in

i dont see any fan plugs on the video card..

the power to the port you (chuckiechan) are talking about.. is tht the 4 prong supply? if so, then its connected.

and finally a rookie question.. on this motherboard, i dont know where to put in the jumper to reset bios.. any advice as to the position of the same??

You can also reset the CMOS/BIOS by removing the battery for a couple of minutes.

It's in the manual. Usually there are three pins, and you are now on 2 of them. Put it on the other two (after you unplug the comp) for a a few seconds, then put it back where it was.

The jumper is usually near the battery. Probably says CMOS or something on it.
