Firewire not recognising a Sony camera
I have this Sony DSR-250 that i need to transfer to a Toshiba laptop but now i don't have anything when i'm using the firewire on the Laptop.
Usually i have a sound when i connect the camera but there's nothing anymore.
What could be the reason for this behavior.
I tried another firewire cable with the same result
Thanks for your time

I tried an external HD using the same firewire connection and it's not working also but the HD is working if i use a USB cable.
Anything else to do to troubleshoot this?

I am asuming you are downloading pictures. I tried a couple of months ago to download some video from two different sony camcorders, tried both xp pro and win 2k and neither would reconize that the firewire was plugged in. I think that microsoft is having issues with the firewire and camcorder components. My ipod works fine via firewire. Why do you not just use the usb.Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale

I also tried an external hard drive with the same results......and the Sony camera was recognised the day before but it seems that this particular firewire port is dead....weird
