| need help please with K7VZA!!!
the board was working but, I just reloaded the defaults in bios. and now when I turn on the computer, it beeps continously for about 10 seconds and powers off with no video, I can't press del to get into the bios because it powers off automatically after 10 seconds.
I think draining the bios memory will work? Can someone tell me which jumper on the board to do this and where it is on the board? I don't have a manual to this board.
Thanks in advance. I'm desperate. |

Welcome to the forum!
the bios reset jumper should be next to the battery
if you want the manual..go here and search http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/down...to=Motherboard
after you get on the page for the K7vza...you will see "driver/bios/manual" in tinnnnyyyyy print over to the right
--------
also..try reseating the vid card and the ram

ECS ... no wonder you are having problems with the board ... I took the route of buying a cheap board at one time and will never do it again as going with Asus has never given me a headache. Many a time you get what you pay for but I am not one to spend too much money either. I would say if the rest of your components are working I would sell this board to someone else and well I personally would let them know there might be something wrong with it ... sell as is .. |

No surprise this thread attracts at least one bullsh*tter.
Clearing CMOS will get you back to "failsafe" defaults, and lets you redo your settings. You'll be able to figure out which one sent it over the edge.
While you're inside, do a bit of maintenance. Check for dust clogging in heatsinks, look for whether all fans spin properly and without suspicious noise, and, since the board has been made in about the 2000-2002 time bracket, also check for bulging or leaking capacitors. |

After selecting "default settings" in the bios did you tell it to save the settings prior to exiting the Bios setup?

I've tried clearing the CMOS by shorting Jumper 1 and it still doesn't work.
What should I do?
Please help. Thanks |

you need to leave the clear-CMOS jumper in the short position for 10-20 seconds to clear it - did ya leave it that long? |

I've cleared the bios for over an hour, I've reseated all the memory and cards, and even tried to boot it off with only the floppy disk connected and disconnected all the drive and removed all the cards with only a video card.
still doesn't work. I'm really getting worried. |
