AX45-8XN w/ 2.40A CPU problem

I have an AOpen AX45-8XN mainboard w/ BIOS rev 1.03 (latest). It has been running a 1.60A / 400 GHz P4 w/0 problems for a year now. I have a 2.40A / 533 GHz P4 that I have been trying to install, but the system will not post with that processor in it.

I read AOpen's specs on the mainboard and it will take up to a 3.06 / 533 GHz Northwood processor.

Specs on the processor are here

The board is jumperless and I have reset the BIOS to defaults after a number of tries. I have put the 1.6 back in and it's working fine and I have now tried 2 2.4 cpu's.

Am I missing something?

**Edit**

Nevermind. Solved the mystery.

Hmm... I have an old Shuttle board that does something similar. It boots fine with a celeron 1.7 but won't boot with a P4 2.0. What did you do to resolve the problem?

The P4 that we received was a Prescott processor (90nm), rather than a Northwood (130nm). Sadly enough, there's no way to tell the difference from the box - you have to look up the 5 alpha-numeric code on top of the processor itself.

But that's what we get from Intel...
