| Puter boots, but no monitor (monitor is fine though)? HELP!!!!
Hi
I'm running XP Pro, and yesterday my computer was fine.
Today I went to boot it up, and the keyboard lights up as usual, but I get no piccie on the screen. In fact, the monitor stays in standby mode.
I tried using a different monito, but the same thing happens. At least I know my monitor is ok!
When I unplug yhe monitor lead, the monitor switches out of standby mode, and displays the no signal message. Plug it back in, and it goes back into standby mode.
Any ideas on what's going on here?
THANKS!

try taking out your graphics card and re installing it, you could have dust in your card slot. otherwise try a different graphics card, it could be that yours is shot.

Hi
It's a video card.
How do I boot in safe mode if I can't see anything on the screen?
Cheers!

If you're not getting the BIOS boot screen then safe mode is of no use as you are not getting any signal at all.
Sounds like video card is dead or needs reseating.
Can you try another card or try yours in another system? Bill in SD, CA

Congrats!
I was suggesting resetting your bios, too. But glad all is well now.
