| Please help computer wont boot
Hello,
My power supply I had was a 350w and it was broken. I changed to a 550w enermax and got it today and wouldn't boot. I plugged everything in and I pressed the button to turn it on all you would see is the fans go on for 1second and wouldn't start. |

How did your PS get broken. Did something else break at the same time.
If you are sure everything is hooked up right its just a case of substituting parts.
Start with PS, vid card, CPU, 1 stick of mem. No HD, No other cards. No floppy. It should at least POST and get you into setup. |

I hope you didn't forget the 4-pin "Pentium" CPU power plug?

NO. Any electrical device will only use as much power as it needs. The power supply can't force it in. |

Might be a bad PS. Is this a dell or another store bought. sometimes they change the wiring in the ATX plugg so you have to buy one of theirs.
I have a comp USA PS that won't run an old tyan board, but runs everything else I have tried it on. Every other PS I have tried on the Tyan board runs it fine. Figure that one out. |
