| Windows XP "serious errors" and constant reboot...
I'll get right to the point...
My computer constantly gives me blue screen errors and automatically reboots itself, saying when it restarts that "Windows has recovered from a serious error". It does this no matter what I'm doing. Just recently it did this and rebooted itself, and right before Windows starts up it automatically reboots itself again in a constant cycle and I could not get into anything, not even Safe Mode.
Some of the things I have done to try to fix the problem:
I've tried shutting off the memory dumps as well as auto system reboot in the properties in My Computer, but no luck, I've tried running Norton Antivirus, but it locks up beofre the scans can be finished, I've tried running Spyware removers, but nothing, I've even ran the "System Recovery" on my computer 4 times wiping out my data and even after this it still does it. I've updated everything including windows and antivirus definitions as well, and still nothing.
My system specs:
OS: Windows XP Home Edition
Computer model: HP Pavilion a705w
Not sure what type of motherboard, but I haven't changed anything inside the computer since I bought it, everything is standard of when it was purchased
If you have any ideas of what might be wrong or anything please help
Thanks... |

what i would surgest is to open it up and remove anything not vital for the com to boot.e.g sound card e.c.t.
if the com is still absod+restart cycle then you know it is a limited number of things.
mobo
cpu
memory
os

i think something similar happened to me, but mine didnt get onto the log on screen even. its just turned blue and then restarted about 7secs after turning it on and it keep restarting..
i figured out the probelm, my PC kept doing that becasue i didnt shut it down properly last time so the registry files got messed up and as a result couldnt start windows normally, not even in safe mode.
So, i used the XP boot disk and formatted the computer, after formatting update all drivers etc, expecially those important ones like the motherboard (if available) and graphics card drivers too etc...
and yeah follow what s2g24 said and remove a few cards, try the grpahics one, sometimes it can casue problems and interfernce.
**BUT formatting is the final option when you have tired everything and evrything has failed..

Yes, my computer did the same thing but now I can't even get into safe mode nor do a system recovery, but I just got done talking with the HP people and they have diagnosted it as a faulty hard drive and will be sending me a new one. Hopefully that is what is wrong with it and I should be able to get back the way it was soon, thanks for all your help... |
