    Red face can i stop auto install?

     
    i would like to manually install new ethernet card. i have cd-rom from manufacturer.
    can i stop auto install?
    if so how do i do this??

    Just click the cancel buttons when it offers to install drivers for your new hardware, though why you would do this is a bit of a mystery. If you mean you want to stop the autorun feature on the driver cd, then holding down the shift key whilst the pc scans the cd should do that.

    Please use only one thread for your problem.
    Personally, I'd try another network card, and make sure you use the ethernet cable which came with the modem whilst trying any card.

    You can also stop the autorun feature permanently by hacking the registry, I use System Mechanic for this.
