Ctrl + alt + delete doesn't work

When I do that cause I need to check my CPU usage it doesn't open. Or it will open for a split second then close. I need to check the CPU usage because the fan is louder then it ever has been before.

I DL'd speedfan but not sure how relable those temps are on a laptop. Reporting in as the HD at 55C and Temp1 at 72C...not sure what Temp 1 is. But the CPU usage according to speed fan will jump from 1% to 96% when it's just sitting not doing anything. In a 2 minute span it will jump all over the place.

Again this is a laptop, so any ideas?

I had this happen once and I honestly can't remember what I did to fix it. I think I was about to reinstall windows anyway, so I ended up saying "f it." Try scanning for virii and spyware. It might be that a system file is messed up, but I honestly can't remember right now.

Yeah I tried that, doesn't work.

Ran virus software and all that, didn't find a thing, still running loud and hot.

Try cleaning the fans. I know they don't seem related, but heat issues can do funny things to laptops.

It's a virus.

- Boot into safe mode.
- Install Virus Software.
- Update somehow. (Either patch on CD or net connection)
- Run scan
- Delete infected files
- Reboot in normal mode
