pointer jumps to side screen
I have a new micro innovation laser ps/2 compatible mouse with wire which I use on a desktop pc, windows xp.
Ocassionally while I am using the mouse the pointer jumps & disappears for a second then ends up at the side screen where I can't get it out. Then for instance, it will let me move it but only up & down glued to the left side & then will jump to the bottom of the screen & move left/right & for a sec it might jump out of the sides & suddenly jump to the middle screen in some random spot then back to the sides, it does a couple split seconds of disapearing in btw this act, then eventually lets me have it back. Take in mind, it will let me move it while I am trying to get it out of the sides but its like its being held to the sides. And this happens once to 4 times in a day & it lasts for moments of 10 seconds or so.
So far I have not noticed it happen while disconnected from the net. And at first I only thought it happened while playing yahoo pool. But I have realized it does this outside of playing online pool while connected to the net.
So I have wondered if it I might have been hacked & recieved a trojan. But found no traces after scanning witha few different virus detectors & even using a rootkit revealer. My computer has all the latest protection which I am sure, is never enough anyway. I have had plenty of scan attempts on my ports in my opinion.
I don't know enough about mouse hardware & hacking to understand this situation. So I need an expert who might know what this problem usually indicates.

See if you can borrow another ps/2 mouse (that you know works) and see if you have the same problem. If not then you know you have a defective mouse.
