I had exactly the same problem and was only able to resolve the issue buy booting in safe mode. Under device manager selecting Bluetooth and uninstalling the adaptor and emulator.
Re booting in normal mode vista then re-installed the drivers and my problem was over (well at least for the last 3 days)
