2GB Thumb Drive Corruption

This is the second thumb drive I've purchased so far and both are having the same problems. As long as I limit the amount of data I put on them, not exceeding 512MB, it stores information correctly. But if I exceede that amount the data always becomes corrupted and is displayed as folders with a lot of zeros underneath it. I've formatted the drive several times and the highest format I can give it in windows is fat32. Windows XP shows that it is a 2gb drive but doesn't know what the problem is with it. I have partition magic 8 but it doesn't recognize it so I'm left with a problem I don't know how to solve. The chances of getting two bad thumbs drives in a row are very slim. How do I keep my data safe from corruption and use the whole 2gb? samhain@lycos.com

p.s.

It's a Kingston 2GB thumb Drive.

HI ordinary12, Welcome to TechIMO
Are you running anything overclocked on your rig?
Do you have the latest BIOS version for your Motherboard/hardware? I dont think you need to download any drivers for USB for XP they were built into XP .
Do you have only 1 computer? If you have more than 1 computer Does this happen to all of them? Which comp do you use to format? can you try a different computer to format the drive??
