Computer boots, Fans Spin, No Beep, Nothing else turns on?????

OK,

So last night I reformatted my computer, and put Windows XP onto it, and then when i got through that, I started to install Ubuntu Linux, but when I got to the partitioning stage, I could set up the partitions great, but there's were so many different formats you could put your drives as that I just restarted my computer and let it run to Windows Xp, so that I could ask you guys which format to partition my drive as for Linux, but that's not what made the problem (or is it?)

So I go into Windows, and I have to set-up my wireless card to connect to the net, but it doesn't detect it, so I think, maybe shut it off remove it, put it back in, wrong, still nothing, then I thought, maybe move it to a different PCI Slot, big WRONG, now when I pressed the Power button instead of seeing a green LED and an orange one Flashing (HD), I just see an Orange LED ON. The CPU fans and case fans spin up same as PSU, I don't hear a beep, and im not sure about the hardrive spinning up, but I think it does cuz when I put my ear next to it, I can hear a soft whir.

Now I've tried everything I could possibly think of, reset cmos, remove battery, take things out, put other things back in, take mobo out and put it on cardboard or somethin, move jumpers around (putting them back of course) but to no avail I cannot get this machine to work!

Now, if I can't get it to work, then maybe, just maybe, I could seel it back to the guys I bought it from, get some 500 bucks maybe, and then build myself one, or get a dell or something, but either way, if this computer works, then thats fine, but ever since the first day of crap I've had to deal with, I knew I'd have trouble with this machine forever, wireless not working, hundreds of BSOD's, PCI card not getting detected, GFX card not getting detected, fans not working, etc.

Now system specs to let you know are:
Intel Celeron D 2.66Ghz OC'ed to 3GHZ
512 MB PC2700 DDR-Ram
Nvidia Geforce FX5200
80gig 7200 rpm Maxtor HD
D-link network Card
Some 56k modem they threw in

If you pull the memory and videocard do you get any error beeps? Have you swapped the PS? If nothing goes after that, its possible that ESD claimed the mainboard.

Alright, sounds like Electro-Static Discharge. If you built another PC for yourself, invest 10 bucks in a esd wristband from Compusa. Very handy and will prevent alot of problems. I use one everyday and it has saved me everytime I am in the case.

are you serious about esd? so that means like? my whole comp is basically f^&*(d up? great....(in more then one way ) so it would of happened from me going into my computer last night to check out my wireless card...and then basically zapping everything?

but here's the thing......i checked all the capacitors, none are busted open or bloated, plus i took a multimeter to almost everything....and everything's getting juice......hmmmmm......well thx....i guess i get to tell my parents the good news ......unless it isn't busted...but if it is...i'd be happier with that

Lol Switch, that doesnt mean "everything" is messed up. Just mainly your mobo. Maybe the wireless card aswell. Try replacing the mobo first and BUY a Wristband!

yeah, Radioshack should have them. If not, you can order one online.
