Failed 200 GIG HDD
I have a failed 200GIG HDD - WD2000BB - I have tried many times though windows/dos to format it with no luck I booted up knopix last night and tried to zero the drive tried to format the drive tried to even mount it w/ no luck.
When I tried to zero the drive I had many many I/O errors returned.
Can some one point me to a good HDD recovery tutorial.
I dont care about the data I just want the drive to function.

What diagnostic utilities have you tried? I assume you've run the WD Datalife thing?

If the drive still has a warranty, you can RMA back to WD and get another one.

Hopefully, your computer doesn't hate WD drives, or else it'll be a continuous cycle.
I think some PC's just hate certain brands of anything.
I would use the warranty.
