new hard drive, new install

Question:
My laptop hard drive is completely crashed, I could not even use the recovery disk to restore. I am planning to buy a new hard drive for my laptop. my question is, if I get a compatible one for my laptop, do I just use the windown XP CD to reinstall windown? is that all that I need to do?

Yes, that should work. You may need some additional drivers but thoes should be on a cd that came with your laptop. If not you can always download them.
