hp wont start

system # dm181a-aba
motherboard p4g533-la
processor 2.7 ghz
windows xp

i turn comp on, it seems nothing loaded, a screen appears - hp invent, it gives choice for f1 and f2 keys but no response when pushed and constant cmos tone.
no keyboard lights,no activity at all.
please help if you can

I would start by reseating any cards, memory and possibly the cpu. Take them out and put them back in. Make sure the power supply cables are on good.

You can also disconnect hard drives, cd rom, floppy to see if you can get into the bios setup.

Also try clearing cmos.

Was it working first, or did it just not boot after being off? Did you make any hardware changes or anything else?

my daughter tried hooking up webcam it froze she shut off power restarted and thats it

yes;clear the cmos and go from there,look in your manual for info
