| Now Windows won't install...
When will it end?
Ok, I got new parts for my PC. I got new ribbon cables, a 6800, and more RAM. Now, when I installed everything, everything seemed smooth [except for a coulple of cables with a plastic bag fell onto the motherboard. So, when I try to boot up into Windows, freezes. I figure its because I forgot to uninstall the drivers. So, I reformat, and try to reinstall Windows don't work, gives me something about "try replacing your videocard", which I do, switch back to 5500 OC. now it gives this error message [which I think I've seen before-
Windows has shut down to prevent damge to your computer.
IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL
***STOP:0x0000000A (0x00000005, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x807E72AO). I think this pooped up before when using the 6800. My system is-
Asus A7V600
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
XFX 6800 [or 5500 OC]
1,024 MB of RAM [Which may be bad]
Sony DRU-710A
Antec case/Antec 350 watt PSU
Sony Floppy
Is my RAM or videocard bad? |

I just did that, and switched the RAM slots. Might have had a faulty slot. Seems to be working now. |

GAAAAH!!
What does this error message mean-
Setup cannot set the required Windows XP configuration information.
This indicates an internal setup error.
Contact your system administrator. |

In short, it means you are attempting to install some new piece of hardware that is incompatible with XP. Make sure that the hardware is on the Hardware Compatibility list. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295322/EN-US/
If Windows installs, once the new hardware has been removed, you have your answer.
A BIOS update might help. |

Yeah, I planned on running one. Good thing I got Kingston. At least they'll honor their warranty. Or, newegg. |

There have been a lot of memory compatibility problems lately. The memory may pass the tests but may nevertheless malfunction when used in a board for which it is not approved.
Check the Asus website for compatibility info.
Try installing with your old memory. |

I presume failing 181,753 tests in 8 hours indicates faulty RAM. Now I've got to do an RMA. Oh well. |

Well, apparently it was bad RAM. At least my 6800 is working. |
