    Unhappy Help! Hard Disk Trouble

I'm running a 120GB SATA hard disk (i can't remember the make) on a Aopen motherboard.

Whenever I boot the computer it runs CHKDSK.
While running CHKDSK it finds corrupt attribute records and several unreadable file record segments. Then it deletes some corrupt attribute records and corrects errors in indexes.

After doing this a blue screen appears and says:

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Technical Information

    Stop: 0x000000D1 (0x00000028, 0x00000006, 0x00000000, 0xF87CCC1A)

    ulsata.sys -Address F87CCC1A base at F87C6000, Datestamp 3d2a7380

Windows also takes much longer to do anything and I am unable to delete anything from my hard disk, windows displays an error message saying it is unable to delete because the directory is corrupt or unreadable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i am about to go to bed, hehe, so didnt have time to actually research those lines of error code but a quick suggestion if i'm right is thay .sys file appears to be a driver for a controller card that the HDD is on or a driver for the controller on the mobo. In whatever case, my quick guess is it's corrupted.

If you have not updated the driver within the last 30days or so, reinstall driver. IF it is a very recent driver, roll back driver(winxp) or remove driver and install either a newer one or older one.

For a quick guess, it appears to be a driver problem but if this doesnt resolve problem, I will actually research it for you.

Can you boot in safe mode? It loads windows with limited drivers so maybe that might help. I have encountered this problem before ande booting in safe mode worked. It does demend on the driver that is missing/currupt.
