Multimedia Audio Controller PROBLEMS...help me solving it

My sound card is not working .. everything looks okay in Device Manager except for the entry in 'other devices' Multimedia Sound Controller' which is flagged as not working. When I try to set any audio properties 'it' tells me I do not have this device installed - no audio device. Help please if you can ..

Is this a new build? It looks like you need to install drivers for your soundcard. Your soundcard should have come with a driver CD. If your sound is integrated into the motherboard then the driver should be on the CD that came with your motherboard.

i don't have any sound card diver cd.....maybe i have lost it ....so can any one help me get the drive from the intenet
by the way i have opened the CPU and i had looked on the sound card it is a VIA company sound card and its number is 8237

please help me finding the sound card driver

Go to driverguide.com they will have the driver or any others you need in the future. I think you have to put your email address there and register--but well worth the little effort.

VIA 8237 is the southbridge controller on the motherboard which also has integrated audio. You need to download the VIA Vinyl audio drivers from www.via.com.tw
