Can't install printer on new build

I was running my printer fine on my old system also using windows xp, when i try to install it on my new build i get this error

Title: "16 bit windows subsystem"

Message: "c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt. the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications"

How do get around this?

Explain in detail how exactly you installed it. Sounds like you chose to run MS-DOS printing or something that is not compatible with XP. Please include brand and model of your printer and whether it is parallel or USB.

Had a problem with the autoexec.nt file on my pc a while back, not with installing a printer though. I solved it by replacing the autoexec.nt in the system\32 folder with a copy of the one that is in the c:\windows\repair folder, worked for me anyway, give it a go.
