PC Just Crashed cant boot up now OMG Help

Im running a chaintek vnf4 mother with dual mushkin 550 ddr rams and windows xp. PC was running fine all day then I turned it off and went out, came home booted up fine but there was some odd file on my desktop do I put it in my recycle bin. I was playing Battlefield 2 and then I crashed.

Now when I reset the pc it goes to the menu where it says I can safe boot, safe boot with networking or start with my last good known configuration. If I choose any of these it resets and takes me right back to this same menu. Do I reformatt, how can I get to my desktop thinking the mysterious file that was on my deskto p that I threw in my recycle bin is the problem? First time problem on this pc I built months ago, I hate to reformatt it will take me hours to get everything back to normal.

Wierd I tried booting up and still wouldnt work still to the menu, so I found a 3.5 floppy that said xp boot disk and tried that, got to my desktop, the file I threw away was nothing, was to do with doom 3. Now I turned off my pc and reboot and I get to my desktop fine again.

    WTF JUST HAPPENED OMG
