I formatted the C drive and was ready to install windows again. When I inserted the disk I got this message.....if you have HPFS of NTES installed on your hard drive, you will need to create an MS-DOS boot partition to set up windows. I don't know how to go about this. Can anyone please help? |

Do you have a drive overlay program installed? These are generally used to overcome drive size limits, such as when your BIOS doesn't support drives larger than 137GB. |

I keep on trying over and over to install windows, but in the middle of installing the pc freezes and I have to start all over again. Right before the pc freezes it makes a hissing sound. What could this be? |

If it's XP, the "medium" would be a CD. Check the physical condition of the disk and look for blemishes.
Can you tell where the sound came from, i.e. the top, bottom, front or back of your computer? |

I really can tell where the sound is coming from. When ever I try to install winsxp it goes through the process of installing half way than it freezes. I thought may it is over heating. So I got my hair blower out and set it to cool. I aim it on the back of the pc while I install windows, and it did not freeze through the whole installation. After the installation I restarted the pc and it froze when it got to the desk top. I turn the pc off and turn it back on with the blower blowing in the back, and it does not freeze. What could this be? The pc only works as long as I have the blower on |
