This pc a recently built has 512mb of kingston. Running a 2.53ghz Cel D. This pc boots up with about 220mb used on bootup which is fine for what is running.

This pc was working well until the last couple days, it started going so slow that it almost halted numerous times until today it froze so i had to shut it off and back on.

It boots up fine, no virii and no spy\ad...ware at all.

I was monitoring task manager and noticed something very odd-

When nero is open, it typically uses 7mb of memory just being open. If burning a disk, it jumps up to 273mb of memory being used until cd is complete!

Another thing, when i transcode video files recorded from my video camera, that problem takes 195mb of memory!

I have the same version software installed on another pc with 1 gb of memory. I've heard, the more memory you have the more the pc will use but here is the thing-

Why is the pc with 512mb of memory using 273mb for nero and 195mb for my transcoder when my 1gb of RAM pc only uses 91mb for nero and 32mb for my transcoder?!?!

Oh and the weird thing is- for the last hour, the pc with 512mb of RAM has all of a sudden started going faster like it used too?!?!

It is typically using about 550mb so it's down into virtual memory. I was thinking maybe it takes forever because of me constantly working it to death, it may be constantly using the swap file but for 2 days straight? As soon as i get on it from waking up, it's slow so i dont know about that theory or not.
