Hi,
I have a dell inspiron 2650 that is a couple years old. Its had power problems for a while. My husband has resoldered the power inside on the motherboard twice. It seems that just using the computer "pulls" the inside power mechanism just enough that it won't make a good connection. I am wondering if anyone has found a good answer to this problem. I've heard its not an uncommon problem. It was such a great computer, but not very helpful if you can't even charge the battery or power up. Is there such a thing as something that could power the battery outside of the computer, or are we just resigned to replacing the motherboard, and if so what prevents this from happening again?
thanks for any insights. |

Welcome to Techimo.
So, he resoldered a wire that keeps pulling out a few times already? If that is the ony problem, you could have him solder a short wire between the motherboard, and the wire that pulls out...just so that it is long enough so it doesn't pull out anymore... |

its not a wire, its the place on the motherboard where the plug actually plugs into. Actually we did think about removing it from the motherboard and attaching it outside the computer, it just then renders it basically not very mobile.
Any other ideas? |

So...you mean it is the adapter that the power cord gets plugged into? |

what they are saying is that the notebook has the power connector attached directly to the motherboard and what happenes if that when the power cord is unplugged it breaks the solder connection

Ya, then that will be more trouble...I can't think of any good ways to fix that right now... |
