Need Help please

Ok, every time i click on a windows media player video file it starts to open then, all of a sudden it dissappears. It not only just happens with media player but also with aol, msn chat and some download accelerator....! I find it extremely annoying and it has only just started to happen after deleting a virus from my pc. Have a corrupted anything while doing this? i am operating on windows xp . thanks

The WMP files - are they online files or local?
What was the virus?
Have you attempted a System Restore point prior to obtaining the virus?
You can also try uninstalling WMP and reinstalling to see if it will refresh any corrupted files.
