Hi everyone,
Man i just hate computers. There were so many damn problems with my computer already and another pops up. Well now the problem is when i run a game (eg Max Payne 1) it runs for a while and quite to desktop and when i run again, it says some error with ddraw and it cant load it. This is not only this game. Happens with many. And in some, the computer automatically restarts. My graphics card is okay (its a Geforce FX5200 128 mbddr and AGP2X motherboard). I think the problem is because of the motherboard's bios settings cause everything worked perfect when i had the other motherboard. This all started with this new motherboard. The computer restarts a lot ( on its own) whenever i run a game or the game runs for sometimes and quits to desktop). I have updated my drivers and everything.(just formatted my computer)
so my thinking is its motherboard or bios settings. Any ideas guys? |

Is the 5200 compatible with a 2x's AGP slot. I can't find anything that says it is.

Welcome to TechIMO!
So this happened right after you got a new motherboard...and you just did a full reformat now...but it still does it? Quote: |

Wow i didnt know that u guys responded at lightning speed. anyways thanks.
Well yeah. Previously Prince of persia : warrior within worked awesome but now during starting a game, it exits at the loading screen saying techanical problem. And other games (like Harry Potter and goblet of fire) the game runs for sometimes and quits to desktop after that). I am sure its something to do with the motherboard.
And i forgot to mention, all the games which use BINK videos, the videos run slow and choppy whereas in the old motherboard they ran perfect. any solutions? |

If you think it is a BIOS setting problem then maybe turning off some features would help. Disable fast writes, write combining and sideband addressing.

I just thought voltage requirements changed between 2x and 8x/4x's. Figured not every card could deal. |

Agp aperature should be half of your physical memory. The other's should have been on, try them off. |
