I've been trying to combat this problem with a newly pc i built about a month ago is driving me insane and nobody knows what's wrong... Until now, maybe.
This pc is a 2.53ghz Cel D with 512mb PC2700 Kingston, on an Aopen S661FXm-7US board.
Problem- if i start downloading, for example, something to any of 2 hard drives on the same cable, the overall system itself starts to slow down just a little bit.
If i engage Nero to start burning a cd while downloading, ... it really starts to go slow.
Or, if i am not burning anything, but i am downloading something and copying something to the hard drive, any of the 2 hard drives, the system becomes so slow, it almost comes to a halt!
The original drivers were used for the EIDE controller but recently upgraded to newest ones and nothing changed.
Sisandra says the following-
not exactly but you may get what i am saying-
PCI bus has HIGH Latency. Go to Bios settings\PCI & AGP\ and set Latency to 64 or 32.
The description cause says exactly what the pc is doing and i feel by changing the setting, everything will be back to normal, except---
The setting isnt there!
I have other boards that have this but this setting is nowhere on this board.
If someone knows of another phrase that it could be called that i am overlooking please let me know.
Also, if you feel that it could be something else let me know.
The pc runs in UDMA5 for both drives, it just has very bad performance issues with multiple instances of hard drive access. |

that cant be the case.
I've ran Sisandra, same version, on 2 other pcs that also have 2 HDDs on 1 cable.
To get down to it, there are 3 desktops in the house-
Each pc has 2 HDDs on the same cable and the other line has 2 cd drives.
However, the pc i am referring to is the only pc that has this error and also the only pc whose HDD line is ran on the Secondary port...
I'll switch em around in a few minutes and thanks for a quick reply. |

there can be huge differences between even cloned PC's with different bios versions or brands/model of drives |

Oh ok, i understand now. So, to clear up what i should do-
I'll first play it simple and switch cables around and see what Sisandra says.
If nothing changed, i will disconnect the 2nd HDD and rerun Sisandra.
If, the tool no longer reports that warning, and , then what should i do now? Flash the BIOS? |

Update - This is funny-
I switched the cables around, still reported same warning.
I then disconnected the slave drive as recommended and I can't check to se if that would fix it and would not be great even if it did because since I have Norton's Goback installed, and the bin file is stored on the slave drive, without the slave drive present, GoBack prevents the system from booting up! |
