Temps:CPU - 28 to 33, case - 32 to 38 degs C (Using PC Probe, AI Booster, Bios and an additional display in case all agree within a deg or 2)
As for sound i am onboard now but have tried Audiology 2 ZS2
Mem checked out ok
I think my wife will beat me if i change boards and chip again but i think i will give it a go, what chip would you recomend for the A8R-MVP?
Thanks.Last edited by fonker2; March 14th, 2006 at 12:25 PM.

Well a new case just seeing first powerup with the A8R-MVP swapout for two previous Asus
other model boards is running smooth with an AMD 64bit 3800+ X2 dual cored cpu. Here the
decision should be made by cost and practical application. Being that the dual cored cpu is a
new item the price tag is up there at present. There are some lesser single core models that
will run with no issues. On sound the Audigy 4 Pro replaced a year Audigy 2 ZS Gamer after
it suddenly bit the dust after a few days of errectic behavior. So far the newer card has now
outperformed the Audigy 2 line by a long shot. You can go AMD64, FX, and X2 on this model
board with the details seen at: http://usa.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...87&modelmenu=1

Thanks for the info, i am going for the AMD 64bit 3800+ X2 dual core with the A8R-MVP deluxe. ( http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l...42&modelmenu=1 ) I only hope this sorts everything or its another £350 down the pan.
Thanks again for your help.Last edited by fonker2; March 15th, 2006 at 06:32 AM.

So far the replacement board and an Antec True Power 480w supply are running "quiet and
smooth" according to the finally satisfied owner who had ordered a NZXT brand case with a
supply included. When the case came in with three 120cm fans he inquired about a supply.
That was after being told about ordering cases with supplies that are unknown. He was the
happier when he noticed that Antec supplies had two sets of fans were the NZXT had only a
single exhaust fan in the rear of the case. The Antec draws air through it internally to throw
out the back keeping the supply's temps down too. The cpu runs all day at 36-37C. The cpu
model there is the first of the dual core line just to let you know. Hope it goes as well with a
new board for you there.

Glad to see a positive outcome there. Finally grabbed a copy of Halo to try it out after being
a little bored with HALF LIFE 2. That AMD64 4800+ model is looking better as well in a newer
case down the road from the current Socket A model here. Just keep an eye on temps. A run
of a good memory tester once in while can help on a gaming system. At least you know that
you can find help on this forum if something comes up.

I've started to encounter this problem not too long ago
My Symptoms are such:
The computer randomly locks up but the sound continues for sometime and then starts to loop. Sometimes it will regain normality but proceed to do it once again. This happens more often when I attempt to play a game, but even happens when not doing anything.
On start-up I see specks of different colours, usually red or blue, and I'm certain it is not normal. Also, sometimes when I log into my account, the box that says "Loading Person Settings" will remain, my background won't be there except in the places where the shortcuts are, and anytime I attempt to do anything the screen will turn flash and overlap anything else.
Lastly, although I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, I hear a buzzing sound that appears to be coming from my Power Supply.
Now, I'm not very good with computers so any help would be appreciated.
I run Windows XP and I have an NVIDIA GeForce 6800. If you need more info, let me know.
