USB occasionally won't detect, plug and play disabled? (on WinXP)

Occasionally, whenever I safely remove hardware usb, and try to connect the USB again, it will not run. I have to then reboot for the usb to detect again. What could be the problem? I think it started happening after I inserted a USB drive and it malfunctioned creating a conflict? I tried removing all the usb controllers in Device Manager (except for the VIA controllers) and started over, but I guess the problem still exists. Can anyone help?

Ok, I rebooted but, it won't even detect now... it seems like it's lagging really bad or something. I hear the USB connection sound but nothing. I actually have a USB hub connected to the computer, and another hub from my monitor... is not enough power getting through or is there some kind of conflict now? It's been fine before but ever since the malfunction error for one of the USB drives, it seemed to have messed up other things!

hmm, it seems to be working fine again after I unplugged all the USB and plugged it in again. Strange... I have 7 USBs connected. Is there a limit or not enough power?

What do you have plugged in? You have two hub's. Do they have their own powersupplies, or do they draw off the computer.

Is one of the hubs built into the monitor?

Perhaps you where drawing too much power, or one of the devices attached was hosing up everything.

Hope all works good now.
