i built a new computer using sata, i boot it up, with my windows xp home oem in the disk drive, and have it as boot from cd first, and when i get past the parts check, it goes to some PCI device listing and then says Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk and Press Enter.

Probably its not detecting the SATA controller..
at install it ask for third party drivers, use the floppy that came with your mobo and add the sata drivers.
After that all should go well. |

Yep a floppy disk comes with the mainboard containing the drivers for the SATA controller... at least all the mobos I have bought with SATA...
What mobo are you installing? |

You have to press F8 at the prompt in the first few seconds of XP setup to install third party drivers. You have to be ready, you only get a few seconds to press it. XP won't ask for the disk untill later in the setup. |
