My girlfriends cdrom on her presario 1500 stopped working, and now i lost windows too, because i was trying to do a restore and it screwed it up.
It makes a clicking noise and then tries to power up and dies, and it does the repeatedly like its trying to start but dies. Spins up and dies, spins up and dies. Somtiems though it spins up and then works for a while and dies, but I am never able to do a system restore because it usually dies when i put in the second cd.
Got any ideas what this could be? I think the drive is broken, but I hope i can fix it...?
this is the serial number for the drive, and to replace it, it costs around 240dollars.
