DVD drive not working properly.

Hi Im having trouble with my dvd rom drive it keeps saying drive not ready
it says the door may be open, which it isnt, try again. Or words to that effect.

Has anyone else had trouble like this? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I tried searching the forums before posting but came up with nothing.

Its a generic dvd drive. What do you mean by media?

The drive has been working fine for bout a year.
It stills loads whatever I put in it now but that message keeps coming up constantly.
