| Multimedia Video Controller Driver - Help!
II have installed a Smart VDO PCI 2.1 compatible MPEG2 Encoder Card (MPG600) MPG600V11044000226 with a check sticker N2801 on the box, but the multimedia video controller driver has not installed correctly.
The Device Manager shows the following and I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device several times. A search for a driver on the internet has been unsuccessful.
The Contol Panel shows this as an unknown device (with a question mark as is the multimedia video controller). The Device Panel in Properties says that the drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).
The Details window shows the following:
PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0016&SUBSYS_060012AB&REV_01\3&61A AA01&0&38
The Resources window says that this device is not using any resources because it has a problem.
The manufacturers of the Encoder Card (Yuan) were quite responsive when I first asked for assistance, but seem to have abandoned me after requesting an image of the Device Panel as shown above.
Can anyone help me?
For what it's worth my machine has the following attributes:

Thanks Johnnyis42.
Not yet, but a bit more investigation suggests that the use of a program to scan the drivers such as the freeware, Unkown Device Identifier by Huntersoft...so I'll try that first.
It's supposed to be available from http://www.zhangduo.com
but I haven't been able to access that site yet.
I know that other commercial programs also have the facility, but am hoping to find a freeby first.
Having identified the unknown device drivers they apparently list a number of sources and some rate stability, etc.
I'll let you know how I get on, but for now the world of work beckons! |

well, windows will be able to determine whether the driver is valid or not, usually. i use everest to extract the device information from the hardware, and that usually tells me where to go for the driver more readily than anything else.
the reason i say look at the pci slot is because you have an AGP system which tends to be flaky about shared resources between the AGP and pci slots, and i have run into more than a few situations with video controller type hardware on shared slots (though the worse offendor of this is usually sound blaster pci sound cards). |
